sorry its been a while since my last post. we are wrapping up our time here in columbia and now are out of the internet at our place, since our neighbors who we have been getting signal from moved last weekend. this means i don't have a way to transport pictures to my blog. i wish the title to this post was true and that clark & i were really packing like mad getting ready for the move. instead, i am just getting everything out & realizing how we have way too much stuff, then i get overwhelmed and just want to read & relax. so that's what i do.
i've been reading this book that julie let me borrow. it is so good but i can't read it without crying almost the entire time i'm reading it. it seems so real! and very, very sad.
i'm hoping for a burst of energy and vision for packing up the house this week. seriously, i have no excuse. clark & i have no evening commitments at all. maybe i've motivated myself to start "packing up the dreams". i know that adam sandler movie sounds pretty dumb, but i would like to be able to fast forward through the whole move process.
we can't wait to be back in fairway.

we got a late start on the circuit saturday.
it turns out people are a lot more willing to bargain when they are closing their sale in 15 minutes.
we came across this beautiful china that the seller's mother received at her wedding in 1963.
it was in perfect condition and so great. it was a little bit of a debate since i do already have so many dishes. they wanted $65 for the 32 piece set. they had just marked it down to $45. however, i only had $20 on me, so i offered that & they took it! immediately sarah & i looked up how much it was worth online & the total was $511!
saturday was my first "die hard" garage sale day. i met up with katrina at 7:30ish and we hit the sales. columbia loves its garage sales. i heard people talking about being excited about "the season" (which is garage sale season). and one lady was so excited that she ran out of her car & didn't even shut the door! so, the find of the day, was definitely the quilter's guild sale at st. andrew's church. it was so crazy. you could fill up the gallon bags with fabric for $1 and the smaller bags with notions for $.25. i got a pillow for $.10 & a yard & a half of batting for $.25. i was so excited that i was shaking! and i even got invited to the quilter's guild. so i might be attending a few meetings. i found this cute little guy at another church sale for $1. overall it was a very successful day!

i hear that he comes over during the day to see if we're home too.
sam is a great kid and he loves his habitat shoes.
it is rumored that columbia has an excellent garage sale season which starts in the spring & continues on until the fall. so, i will join my friend katrina in a post called "find of the day" to keep you all updated on the cheap & cool things i find during this much anticipated season. now, this includes, but is not limited to, garage sales, antique stores, estate sales...
i attended my first columbia garage sale saturday & indeed, it was pretty awesome. i got yards of this vintage oil cloth fabric, milk bottles, 3 books, & a glass bowl for $4. but the find of the day is this pair of 1950s side tables for $10 each. this one is in the living room, as you walk in the door & the other is in the guest room that i am slowly turning into a room that might be seen in your grandma's house. i love these tables, i probably could have talked them down even more, but i'm not really that good at bartering yet.
the "black beauty" & arlo huffman made their first appearance in columbia this weekend. i think seinfeld was right when he said "having 3 kids is kind of like a blender with the top off". although, arlo hardly made a peep. not sure what eliot is doing to her in this picture, but she didn't seem to mind. she really doesn't mind much of anything as long as she gets to eat, so laid back. collette has such a funny personality & loves to call clark "buck". (she would say things like "my buck", so sweet!) and now it seems eliot might be getting into a few card tricks... it is always good to see the huffmans.
